Blairgowrie Holiday Park
If you're looking at caravans in Perthshire, Blairgowrie Holiday Park comes up a lot and for good reason.
Blairgowrie Holiday Park sits on the edge of town in landscaped, terraced gardens, the kind of setting where you get space without feeling isolated. It's family-owned (the Wood family have run it for nearly 45 years), which tends to mean decisions get made with owners in mind rather than corporate targets.
The park is open 12 months, so you're not restricted to peak season - something worth considering if you want proper flexibility with when you visit.
The atmosphere's generally quiet but very friendly. You'll find a mix of families and couples, people who've been coming for years alongside newer owners. Not everyone's cup of tea - if you want a park with a clubhouse and entertainment, this isn't that. But if you prefer somewhere you can relax without organised activities, it works incredibly well.
The location does most of the heavy lifting here.
Blairgowrie town is within walking distance, a beautiful proper market town, not just tourist shops. You've got supermarkets, medical services, independent cafés, the kind of places that stay open year-round because locals use them. The Wellmeadow (the town centre green space) hosts markets and events, particularly in summer when the berry season's on.
Speaking of which - this is Scotland's raspberry capital. The berry fields around town are a big part of the area, and several farms do pick-your-own in June through August. Good for families, and it gives you something different to do without travelling.
This is where Blairgowrie Holiday Park makes sense for certain buyers.
If you walk or cycle, you're at the start of the Cateran Trail - 64 miles through Perthshire and Angus if you're serious about it, but plenty of shorter routes branch off. River walks along the Ericht, woodland trails through what they call Big Tree Country, or Knockie Hill if you want views without a major climb. The paths are well-maintained and signposted.
If you golf, Blairgowrie Golf Club's well-known (championship courses), and you're within easy reach of dozens more across Perthshire. This area pulls golfers for a reason.
If you fish, the River Ericht and nearby lochs provide good access. We've had clients buy specifically for the fishing here.
If you ski or want mountain access, Glenshee's less than an hour north. In winter it's skiing and snowboarding. Rest of the year it's walking, mountain biking, or just getting up into the Cairngorms. Families with kids who want outdoor space tend to rate this highly.
Some park locations sound good on paper but you never actually go anywhere. Blairgowrie's positioned so you can do half-day trips without it feeling like effort. Dunkeld and Pitlochry are both under 30 minutes, each with different character. Scone Palace (where Scottish kings were crowned) is about 20 minutes. Glamis Castle is 30 minutes or so. Perth city's 20 minutes when you need bigger shops or services.
The road network's straightforward (A93 runs right through), which matters when you're trying to get there on a Friday evening or you've got weather to deal with.
This park works if you want year-round access without restrictions, a quiet landscaped setting close to town, proper outdoor access for walking, cycling, golf or fishing, a family-run atmosphere without corporate feel, and a pet-friendly setup.
